This Music Video is an emotional display of the disparate as well as the home that many people in this country have. What if this were you? Every person has the right to – The ability to live without fear for their life Be surrounded with Love With proper food and water Have proper health care Have access to high-quality education Have a strong family that supports them Have a strong community that respects them for who they are Have a support system that allows them to bring positive change into their life Here are a few ways in which we might work to achieve the above: Ensuring that wealth is not inhibiting the value we place on other’s life. Ensuring that our politicians are truly representing the needs of the people and not their own. Ensuring that the media is unbiased in their reporting – we did it once we can do it again! Ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity for success. Look beyond race to see people as individuals. Look beyond sexual orientation realizing that everyone is sexual and stop there. Focus on educating not indoctrinating our children. Bring back the profession of teaching and hold quality teachers at the highest level. True North
Most people don’t realize that there are two NORTH directions. One is the magnetic north where the compass points. Then there is the north where a line that is drawn through the Earth emerges at the very top. This point where all the lines converge represents where the axis on which the Earth turns is located. The lines of Longitude on a globe all converge at that point. This north is referred to as TRUE NORTH.
Survival in the 21st Century
Back in the 1980s, I was asked to write a paper for a telecommunications-based organization’s executive team’s retreat. The purpose of the paper was to help bring clarity to the impact the emerging telecommunications/digital age was going to have on the future. Entitled “Survival in the 21st Century,” this paper looked at the effect of the looming technology of computers and telecommunications and how the new digital age might impact our lives in the future.
When I was writing this book, there was no internet, no email, and no steaming video. We were just beginning to have the ability to dial into bulletin boards through our new high-speed 1200 baud modems. Companies like CompuServe, Prodigy, and AOL were our central hubs into which we could “connect”.
The Information Super-highway
In the past three decades, we have observed remarkable changes in people’s lives worldwide. A pivotal moment in that transformation of our societal landscape transpired in 1954 when the Senate McCarthy hearings were televised directly into every household. These broadcasts provided unfiltered, real-time sound and visual coverage of a congressional hearing. This unmediated live transmission marked a significant shift in how journalism was perceived and how politicians conducted themselves. Unfortunately, much of the resulting impact was not in the best interest of society.
Play Ball
A group of young individuals ventured onto a busy street to partake in a game of softball. While it was fun for them, it caused a traffic standstill. This unexpected turn of events left commuters understandably infuriated. Numerous individuals failed to reach their workplaces, an ambulance was delayed in reaching a person in need of urgent assistance, and several others faced inconveniences due to the group’s decision to play ball in the street.
Their actions swiftly triggered a wave of indignation among the affected public. In response to the growing commotion, a concerned citizen pointed out that the group should consider relocating their game to a nearby park, rather than disrupting the normal flow of traffic on a street meant to accommodate everyone. Another supported that this street was owned by the taxpayers for transportation and this group had no right to interfere with its intended use. Subsequently, the police arrived at the scene, escorting the team of ball players away from the street to allow the unhindered passage of vehicles.
